What Are Neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators are injectable treatments that temporarily reduce the activity of specific muscles. They work by affecting the signals between nerves and muscles, limiting muscle contraction in the treated areas.
You may know neuromodulators by brand names such as Botox®, Xeomin®, or Dysport®. At Urban Smiles Family Dental Centre, we offer Dysport®.

Therapeutic Neuromodulators for Clenching and Grinding
Many people unconsciously clench or grind their teeth, particularly while sleeping. This is known as bruxism.
Excessive muscle activity from clenching and grinding can contribute to tension around the jaw and may place significant forces on your teeth and dental restorations. Over time, this can contribute to worn, chipped, or fractured teeth.
In appropriate cases, neuromodulator treatment may help reduce the force generated by certain jaw muscles. This can decrease muscle tension and may help protect your teeth from some of the effects associated with excessive clenching and grinding.
